PENGARUH DIVERSIFIKASI DAN KARAKTERISTIK PERUSAHAAN TERHADAP KINERJA PERUSAHAAN

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh diversifikasi dan karakteristik perusahaan terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Proksi diversifikasi yang akan diuji adalah indeks Herfindahl dan untuk mengukur karakteristik perusahaan yang berupa leverage, ukuran, dan umur perusahaan digunakan rasio total aset terhadap total hutang, logaritma normal total aset, dan umur listing perusahaan. Pengukuran kinerja perusahaan menggunakan excess value perusahaan. Sampel yang digunakan berjumlah 288 sampel perusahaan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia pada tahun 2008-2010. Hipotesis pada penelitian ini diuji menggunakan analisis regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa leverage berpengaruh positif terhadap kinerja perusahaan, sedangkan diversifikasi dan umur perusahaan berpengaruh negatif terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Faktor kinerja lainnya, yaitu ukuran perusahaan tidak berpengaruh terhadap kinerja perusahaan.

The objective of this study is to examine the influence of diversification and companies characteristics to company’s performance. Proxy of diversification that observed by Herfindahl Index and companies characteristics are leverage, company’s size, and company’s age are measured by total asset to total liability ratio, log total asset, and total age of companies listed. Sample used in this study are 288 firms year listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2008-2010. The hypotheses in this study are tested by using multiple regression analysis. The results of the study showed that leverage has positive influence on company’s performance, but diversification and company’s age2have negative influence on company’s performance. The other factor, company’s size does not influence on company’s performance.
